My mother was visiting from out of town, spending quality family time. I decided to get tickets to a Wednesday night match for our family, as my mother had never been to a match and the grandkds wanted her to participate in the experience. We had 5 front row seats in section 107. One seat was broken. We informed staff of this. Their solution was to move one of us to another seat. I informed them that this was not OK, as we came to the match to enjoy it as a family. I was informed that this was the only option and that a representative would call us the following day to offer further compensation. My family was not able to sit together and the representative never called. So much for a family night out.

Needs more than the battalion to be a successful franchise

I love the idea of the Sac Republic Battalion - a group of enthusiastic fans that show up to every game and pound drums and sing chants in support of their hometown team. Reminds me of Barcelona. I take issue when the Battalion acts as if they own the team and make others feel unwelcome at the game. Examples: several of their chants include the F word and the couple sitting behind us with 2 young kids got up and left. Also, they set up in the middle of the stands behind the goal and block of the walkway with a chain. People trying to go to their seats on the other side are forced to go down and around the back of the bleachers, sometimes forcibly. At one point a little girl, probably 4 yrs old, hopped their chain barrier to get to her seat and one of the men in the Battalion reached down and grabbed her and pushed her back. Her father made a very wise choice and grabbed his daughter and walked away instead of starting something, which really says something about how welcome families must feel in these events. It will be difficult for the owners to maintain a successful club, or earn a spot in the MLS fans come once and decide it’s not a family friendly atmosphere. My friends who had 4 season tickets dropped to 2 because they can’t bring their kids. My adult friends and I won’t be sitting near that section again.
